Is there some Taoiseach law demanding that David Kelly stars in every Irish comedy? The one-armed pot-washer from Robin's Nest is Dave, a lovable rogue who cons Dubliners into thinking he can communicate with the unliving. The scam works until he and fellow grifter Locky (Milo O'Shea) are contacted by a dead gangster, attracting the unwanted attention of rival gangs and the Garda.
The jokes are obvious, the plot's obvious, even the diddly-dee soundtrack is obvious. But it all tumbles along with a hard-to-resist warmhearted eagerness.
