Dopey, popcorny (emphasis on the corny) nonsense from the Bruckheimer camp, Jerry's latest sees treasure hunter Nic Cage trying to track down an ancient cache of Knights Templar riches. It's cheesy as hell and not a patch on previous Cage/Bruckheimer teamings Con Air and The Rock, but there's a certain lazy pleasure in watching the big set-pieces unfold.
DVD Extras:
At first glance, it seems you're only getting a decent Making Of doc, two pointless deleted scenes, a rough opening animatic-sequence and an alternate ending. Welcome, but nothing special. But at the end of each extra, part of a code flashes up. Collect them all and you unlock another trio of docs - a corker about real-life treasure hunters, another about the Knights Templar and a third about the history of codes. The disc's not done there, though - - one doc ends with another code and this unlocks a trivia track that runs through the film. All in all, much more fun and challenging than the movie.
