Nine Queens

4

Argentinian director Fabián Bielinsky could teach shyster extraordinaire David Mamet a trick or two, his sleight-of-hand debut dealing its cards with the underhand dexterity of a skilled street magician.

Focusing on two Buenos Aires conmen out to fleece a financial fat cat, its slick direction piles twist-on-hustle-on-scam until you're bamboozled. And while the final twist is not as knockout as, say, The Usual Suspects', the movie's prediction of Argentina's financial collapse will keep your head aching until the end.
