The best-worst horror film you’ve never seen, Juan Piquer Simón’s cult Spanish slasher combines exuberance with incompetence so blithely it’s easy to see why Eli Roth calls it a “masterpiece of early ’80s sleaze”. As a chainsaw-wielding killer carves up an “American” campus, heads fly, boobs bounce and muchos scenery is munched. But it’s Simón’s silly ethos that endures, with chop-socky and rollerskating breaking up the carnage. A commentary and two docs look back with due irreverence.
