The dramas and embarrassments of two New York families

Please Give review

If Woody Allen still made films you wanted to watch, they’d be much like this smart, warm-hearted and slyly comic take on the relationships between two neighbouring New York families.

Indie chick-flicker Nicole Holofcener’s movie shows a sharp eye for exquisite embarrassments, as Catherine Keener agonises about her bolshie teen and her cantankerous old tenant next door.

Rebecca Hall and Amanda Peet also delight as mismatched sisters, and Holofcener giggles pleasingly through the disc’s wobblecam Q&A.
