Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment

2

Following the initial instalment of this overstretched (by the time the credits roll on this sequel, in fact) franchise, the freshly-graduated numbskulls are now pounding a beat on the most crime-riddled precinct in their district. The plot is so one-dimensional you’ll need to flatten yourself against the lounge wall to understand it, but then that’s not really the point of Police Academy. Sadly, with the exception of the original flick, it’s difficult at times to see precisely what is. What Their First Assignment does have going for it is a show-stealing late entrance from newcomer Bobcat Goldthwait as the screeching nutbag crime boss.

DVD Extras:

The extras here are starkly underwhelming; a rage-inducingly brief behind the scenes ‘feature’ is all you get besides the half-arsed bonus of a theatrical trailer. Anyone with a shred of sanity, though, will use this as a sensible point to disembark the franchise.
