Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva

The popular Nintendo DS character doesn't quite succeed in his transfer to the big screen...

Professor Layton review

The dinky Nintendo DS puzzler gets a disappointing anime workover in this disjointed tie-in.

Not that it’s the Prof’s fault – he has all the warmth and incisiveness that make the games a joy, together with a fuzzy-calm Alec Guinness voice.

Less endearing are his young apprentice, Luke, and the visual clash of trad animation and bulkier CG.

The plot’s a clunker, too – a limp mystery surrounding a potion that grants eternal life, with puzzles muscled in unconvincingly.

The Blu-ray/DVD Combi Pack offers three bonus adventures.
