Quiz Show

4

A scathing swipe at the amorality of the TV industry, Robert Redford’s most accomplished directorial effort works as issue movie, thriller and allegory. The true story of the Twenty One scandal which shocked ‘50s America, it portrays academic Charles Van Doren (Ralph Fiennes) as a tragic hero, tempted into cheating on the nation’s favourite show by pernicious backroom suits.

DVD Extras:

None.

Verdict:

Quiz Show's damning indictment of an `ends justify the means' culture couldn't be more prescient. An intelligent, engrossing thriller which raises many questions, not least of which is: why the hell aren't there any extras?
