Radio On

Two-Lane Blacktop, Get Carter, Kings Of The Road… Chris Petit’s downbeat indie road movie wears its influences proudly on its sleeve. Wim Wenders predominates (he helped finance the film) in the post-urban disaffection. A London DJ (David Beames) hears of the mysterious death of his brother and heads west in his clapped-out Rover to investigate. Solutions aren’t forthcoming or even relevant; this film’s about mood, grimy visuals and a stunning New Wave soundtrack – Bowie, Kraftwerk, Devo, Ian Dury, Robert Fripp…
