You get two gun-toting über-babes for the price of one in this console-twiddling sequel, but it doesn't make Alexander Witt's reprise of Paul WS Anderson's original any more tolerable.
Picking up where the first one left off, Apocalypse has Milla Jovovich's scantily clad Amazonian joining forces with Sienna Guillory's cop for more zombie-slaying mayhem. Alas, where the first Resident Evil had a nominal story, the Anderson-scripted Apocalypse is a mess that sidelines its key element - - zombies - - in favour of a lizardy ogre that looks like it was cooked up on one of HR Giger's off-days.
The action is frenetic enough to deliver a few `wow' moments. But the rest of this brainless farrago is as undead as its rather apologetic flesh-eaters, while the climax will have you wishing you'd used the DVD for a coaster.
