Rise Of The Footsoldier

1

Sorry to swell the ranks of the “less imaginative critics” that director Julian Gilbey berates in his commentary for not appreciating his mockney hardman biopic, but Rise of the Footsoldier really is the pits. A laughably inept chronicle of one former football hooligan’s ascent up the East End crime ladder, it climaxes with three recreations of a notorious multiple shotgun slaying (yes, the one from Essex Boys) he had nothing much to do with.
