Best taken with a hefty pinch of the titular mineral, Phillip Noyce’s would-be series-starter is Bourne with breasts: a relentless, inventive actioner built around an enigmatic spy with murky motivations (Angelina Jolie).
Never mind that the plot is as preposterous as the man-disguise Jolie wears in one scene, or that you’ll suss out what’s going on long before it’s actually revealed.
What Salt does, with sturdy efficiency, is offer a thrill-filled guilty pleasure, something to be relished now that 007’s future hangs in the balance.
