Aesthetically wonderful but woeful dialogue lets this undergound alien thriller down

Sanctum review

James Cameron doesn’t make bad movies, but if he did, they would be exactly like this humdinger (which he exec produced), combining astounding visuals with atrocious dialogue.

A spelunking-themed Abyss minus the aliens with a massive hole where the script should be, it’s perhaps the most brilliantly awful film of the year.

Besides a beautiful (2D) transfer, dull deleted scenes, competent commentary and decent making of, the extras include a fascinating documentary recounting the real-life inspiration(!), which is scarcely more believable than the feature itself.
