Once seen, never forgotten, Alejandro Jodorowsky's eye-popping 1989 arthouse horror is a demented treat featuring circus freaks, zombies and spurting claret. Lots of spurting claret. The story follows asylum escapee Fenix (director's son Axel) who's been driven insane after watching his knife-throwing father hack his mother's arms off. Tracking her down years later, Fenix agrees to become her arms, but is forced to kill any girl he desires. Allegedly based on a real-life serial killer (!), this delirious Oedipal drama is a true cult classic.
