Back in 1987, Cameron Crowe was making his directorial debut doing what he does best - - a rom-com, served warm and funny. But if Say Anything... sounds familiar, don't think you've seen it all before. Crowe manages to stitch a surprising depth into the well-worn fabric of the genre, taking the cautious romance between John Cusack's earnest easy-goer and Ione Skye's straight-A student a cut above the decade's similar offerings. As affectionate as anything he's done since, Crowe's first glows with enough tender, truthful moments to make the hardest heart melt.
DVD Extras:
Commentary, Making Of, deleted scenes - - these are the great extras from the Region One release that you won't be getting here. Instead, just a trailer. Baffling.
