Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt are the homicide detectives in David Fincher's intelligent, visceral thriller, hunting a serial killer intent on recreating the seven deadly sins. As with all the best chillers, the real horror is left unseen and to the viewers' imagination: this is a murder film in which we never actually see anyone being murdered.

Making-of featurette, trailer.A must-have disc thanks to superior sound and picture quality. The superbly edited trailer and featurette (although a tad short at seven minutes) are an added bonus, but it's the masterful movie itself you'll want to own in never-wear-out form. A shame the wealth of extras on the US laserdisc aren't included. Let's hope that one day Entertainment sees fit to release a special edition.
