Thirty years on and still the hippest blaxploitation flick around, Shaft is tough, sexy and at times very funny. The second and third instalments of the trilogy - - Shaft's Big Score and Shaft In Africa - - match the original, and all three whip the ass of the Samuel L Jackson version.
DVD Extras:
Soul In Cinema: Filming Shaft On Location featurette and trailer (Shaft)/Trailers (Shaft's Big Score and Shaft In Africa). The featurette, though barely 10 minutes long, is worth checking out. In it we see director Gordon Parks working on set, in the editing suite and, perhaps most impressively, listening to Isaac Hayes give a rough rendition of the Shaft theme tune. But that's it for extras, unless you're a big fan of trailers. A shame, because otherwise this would be an essential purchase for lovers of the "bad mother..."
