Shrek Forever After

Shrek manages to claw back a bit of quality

Shrek Forever After review

Though it doesn’t scale the heights of Shreks 1 and 2, Mike Mitchell’s jolly romp is a significant improvement on Shrek The Third.

The final chapter in DreamWorks’ franchise sees the green ogre endanger his own history by entering into a clock-rewinding bargain with short-arse Rumpelstiltskin (Walt Dohrn, memorably waspish).

Amusingly relocating all the regulars to an alt-reality, the series regains some energy and leans lighter on the pop culture referencing.

Still, it’s probably best if the big-eared lug ends his journey here.
