Gun-toting brothers Kevin Costner and Scott Glenn ride west to Silverado, where they become embroiled in a fight-to-the death with a corrupt sheriff and his murderous posse.

It's not as rousing as it thinks, despite the efforts of Bruce Broughton's strident score, but looks terrific - all big skies and wide-open spaces. The accompanying documentary provides an engrossing and comprehensive overview of the film's production. The disc is worth owning if you're a cowboy enthusiast but, post-Unforgiven, Silverado looks rather frivolous and insubstantial.
