Slap Shot 25th Anniversary

4

Bulging with balls, booze and blood, George Roy Hill's 1977 gung-ho sports flick stars Paul Newman as the player-coach of a struggling hockey team. With support falling, he starts playing dirty to get results - but will the team survive? Set against the backdrop of the States' failing steel industry, the film's darker than you'd expect - but it's the brawls that stick in the memory.

DVD Extras:

Über-violent players The Hansons (real-life brothers Jeff and Steve Carlson, and buddy David Hanson) contribute to the short Puck Talk featurette and provide the commentary. Their charm wears off fast.
