Snow White

5

A funny, enchanting fairytale despite the soppy lead. Only a child can fully enjoy it, but Disney’s gift ensures that for 82 minutes you are a child.

DVD Extras:

Commentary with Walt Disney and film historian John Canemaker, production history, original Brothers Grimm fairytale, storyboard-to-film comparisons, deleted scenes, Disney Through The Decades and Making Of documentaries, abandoned concepts, restoration featurettes, publicity material, original art, game, `Some Day My Prince Will Come' sung by Barbra Streisand, Singalong song .It's hard to fault the Family edition of Snow White, including, as it does, the remarkably restored film, an excellent Making Of, an info-laden Walt commentary (pieced together from archive interviews) and a karaoke-style Dwarf singalong scene, all hosted by the sardonic magic mirror. This Collector's Edition offers a bewildering array of extras, but it's somewhat bittily arranged, while the Decades featurette, with its `celebrity' hosts, has an air of Simpsons spoofery to it (""Hi, I'm DB Sweeney, you may remember me from...""). Still, a very impressive edition, if one for Snow White obsessives only.
