An impressive cast keep this quirky drama on track

Solitary Man

It’s something of a shame that Michael Douglas’ recent return to the big screen as Wall Street villain Gordon Gekko will inevitably overshadow his equally strong turn in this DVD premiere, impressing as a wily car dealer attempting to rebuild his rep after a mid-life meltdown.

That he seduces Imogen Poots en route steers Brian Koppelman and David Levien’s pic creepily close to geriatric sex fantasy…

Thankfully, any icky qualms are soothed by a strong cast that includes Douglas’ Money Never Sleeps co-star Susan Sarandon as his forgiving ex and Jesse Eisenberg as his reluctant protégé.
