Robert Rodriguez’s infant-spy series might have an increasingly budget feel, but its sentiments remain sincere.
This is a family movie about family, and while the symbolism can be heavy-handed (a pregnant Jessica Alba’s waters break halfway through an opening fight veering close to ’60s Batman camp), there’s enough heart in the enjoy-the-time-you’re-given message to make some clumsy action forgivable.
Besides, there’s plenty of inventively sticky, colourful scrapes to distract the nippers.
