Stars parade gamely through Paramount’s chipper, variety-style wartime cheer-’em-up. Victor Moore is a minor studio employee posing as a big-shot to his visiting son, while Cecil B DeMille cameos as in Sunset Blvd. It’s amiable, but the studio’s larky self-parody feels disposable next to Billy Wilder’s caustic classic.
