Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan

4

Swapping the cold cod philosophy of the first film for submarines in space and a meaty revenge plot, Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan revitalised the ailing franchise and set the tone for the films that followed. Featuring hammy William Shatner at his pausing, shouty peak, and giving us Ricardo Montalban at his bare-chested best, this is hands-down the best Trek flick made so far.

DVD Extras:

It's a mixture of the old and new, with the old (the interviews were conducted in 1982) verging on puff pieces. Fortunately, the newer elements save the disc - - interesting chats with the stars, two cracking Making Of docs and a wry, knowing commentary from director Nicholas Meyer. Even the most casual fan should own this one.
