Stay Cool

A man attempting to rekindle an old flame sparks a new one

Even a gaggle of ’80s greats can’t save this high-school reunion comedy. Chevy Chase, Jon Cryer, Sean Astin and Dee Wallace provide world-weary support as thirtysomething Henry (Mark Polish) heads back to school to deliver an inspirational speech.

But his attempts to woo old crush Winona Ryder are fudged when he attracts the attention of student Hilary Duff.

Grosse Pointe Blank and Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion weaved punchy action and snarky comedy into the same set-up.

Sadly, Stay Cool is Duff by both name and nature.

Mar 25th 2012, 16:01 This film seems to be in the same vein as movies like Employee of the Month. It has a poorly written script with immature humor and poor performances all around. The actors in these movies never try hard, which is likely because of the fact that they know the quality of the movie they chose to be in. Employee of the Month is aptly named because it is what is a called a paycheck movie. Dane Cook was in that film for the exact same reason why Chevy Chase is in this one, they wanted a paycheck so they accepted what they thought would be an easy film. the most disappointing thing about films like this is the fact that they are never "so bad they're good." They always just seem to come off as bland and forgettable. The most that can be expected is a few cheap, hollow laughs
