Stigmata

1

Desperate slop of quivering old clag in which atheist hairdresser Patricia Arquette `catches' the fabled wounds of Mr Christ from a holiday rosary souvenir. Gabriel Byrne limbers up his smoulder as the Vatican's chief miracle investigator. Soon enough, Betsy Blow-Dry is doing the Beelzebub growl, the church (represented in the red corner by Jonathan Pryce's `tache-twirling bishop) is trying to put her out of their misery and the whole messy thing collapses into a Catholic-bashing, toytown Exorcist.

DVD Extras:

Theatrical trailer, director's commentary, documentary, deleted scenes, music video. The film itself might reek, but enthusiastic stalkers should enjoy the opportunity for a wobble-free freeze-frame of Ms Arquette in her bra. For those not interested in her `charms', there are some decent extras, including an amusingly earnest making-of doc and a wonderfully gun-to-head director's commentary.
