Yasujiro Ozu’s influence hangs heavy over this ultra-low-key drama, which depicts a family gathering to mourn their dead son. It’s excellently acted and directed with a good eye for tableaux, but is a little too languorous overall. The lone featurette is interesting – shame there’s not more.
