Going – justifiably – nowhere until their bassist gets bitten by a bloodsucker, Canadian writer/director/star Rob Stefaniuk’s band The Winners face a funny conundrum: fame and vampirism vs obscurity. Guess which they choose.
Over-directed but oddly engaging, it features an embarrassment of raddled rock cameos – Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper...
Some delicious in-jokes too: vegan Moby plays a meat-wielding rocker called Beef, and we glimpse the brandy glass full of brown M&M’s that Ozzy coveted in the similarly episodic, but more enjoyable, Wayne’s World 2.
