Take Me Home Tonight

Time for some '80s nostalgia...

Take Me Home Tonight review

This youth-com was shot in 2007 then shelved, reportedly because of studio jitters over scenes of coke-snorting. It emerges as an innocuous, lazily amiable puff of ’80s nostalgia, featuring an ensemble who deserve funnier.

Producer/star Topher Grace is the VHS-store lackey pretending to be a yuppie to impress school crush Teresa Palmer; Anna Faris is Grace’s sister, torn between college and marriage.

The one-wild-night structure nods to American Graffiti and Dazed & Confused, but it’s as pale an imitation as the end-credits cover of ‘Don’t You Want Me’.
