Three student film-makers disappear in a forest, the wobbly, fuzzy footage of their last days is unearthed a year later and - whaddaya know - - it's turned into a horror hit which storms the box office, shows the internet to be the hottest new movie marketing tool, and is then transferred to the pristine format known as DVD.
DVD Extras:
Newly discovered footage, The Curse Of The Blair Witch documentary, The Blair Witch Legacy notes, Fear Section (interviews with psychological and survival experts), TV spots, film-makers' commentary, interviews with the directors, cast and crew info, theatrical trailers, Web access. Perhaps the best (and only) reason to be in favour of regional coding is that, on the rare occasions when Region Two discs feature more than Region Ones, you get to feel really smug. That said, everything which makes this DVD so eminently ownable can be found on both US and UK versions (the excellent 50-minute mockumentary, the jokey commentary, the deleted scenes), while the Brit extras smack of rush-jobishness, with the Fear Section in particular laughably pointless. However, it's still a quality package, and it's good to see distributors at last making an effort to improve a product for UK audiences.
