The Boat That Rocked

2

A nostalgic Britcom that fails to stay afloat...

Glug, glug, glug… the previously watertight Richard Curtis Britcom formula springs a leak in this raucous but rose-tinted, starry but sitcom-scaled tribute to the devil-may-care DJs of ’60s pirate radio.

An ensemble yak-track and 30-plus minutes of deleted scenes keep the disc afloat, but imagine how flimsy the film would be without the grooves of The Kinks, The Who, The Beach Boys…

You’re better off buying the soundtrack album instead.
