Scepticism swept the Total Film office when Matt Damon was pitched as a new action hero. But, you know, it works. For a start, Damon’s not the weedy little tyke of The Talented Mr Ripley. Months of boxing and martial-arts training serve up a believable bundle of muscles who can beat seven shades out of just about anyone.
Here he’s an international man of mystery who, after waking from a near-death experience with no memory, must trek across Europe with Franka Potente, trying to figure out both his identity and who’s trying to kill him. Imagine For Your Eyes Only meets The Long Kiss Goodnight and you’re halfway there.
