The critical howls that met Orlando Bloom's first starring vehicle suggested he'd let the side down by opting for a harmless Brit-flick mockumentary. It may be thin, but this tale of a saaarf London milkman turned title-fight pugilist is nowhere near a stinker.
Take away the swearing and off-colour references and this is a suprisingly sweet-natured romp, with the doe-eyed teen fave ably playing a dreamy naïf. Confident comedy support from Omid Djalili and Ronni Ancona contributes to the air of benign humour that in its better moments suggests director Alex De Rakoff has the makings of a Cockney Bill Forsyth.
DVD Extras:
Limited: five deleted scenes, outtakes of Bloom belching and Djalili cackling, and a spot-on Chris Eubank impression from Frank Bruno.
