Made in the '50s, this flighty Ealing lark casts Alec Guinness as a caddish captain with a missus in two ports. It's elegantly, lightly comic stuff, but frivolous and only fleetingly amusing as a snapshot of simpler gender relations. Note how one wife squeals orgasmically when the captain buys her a - - go on, guess - - vacuum cleaner. ""I know!"" she says, eagerly anticipating what's under the wrapping of his next offering. ""Dishcloths!" Arch, but still dated.
