The Cat And The Canary

2

The fourth and (to date) final screen outing for John Willard's whodunnit stage play is the weakest entry in the series. Set in an old dark house on a stormy night in 1934, it feels like Gosford Park crossed with a game of Cluedo as a bunch of hammy old lags - including Edward Fox, Honor Blackman and Wilfred Hyde-White - - gather for the reading of a will. Pretty soon a killer is using the mansion's secret passageways to practise murder most foul...

Former porno director Radley Metzger tries to liven things up by putting the female cast in nightdresses as often as is humanly possible. But you can't help wishing that someone would speed things along by announcing that Colonel Mustard did it in the kitchen with the candlestick.

DVD Extras:

Trailer, text biogs and a stills gallery.
