‘Relevance’ is the watchword here, The Day ’08 makers using it to justify their rehashing of the ’50s sci-fi classic.
It’s not all bad – Keanu Reeves brings a cool menace to alien judge Klaatu and production design is impressive. But event-pic upscaling allows for risible dialogue and lashings of unnecessary CGI.
And that ‘relevant’ eco-message? Horribly heavyhanded. Comprehensive extras.
