The Dead Zone

4

Stephen King regards The Dead Zone as his best novel, but even the notoriously sensitive author was pleased with David Cronenberg's neatly condensed, intelligent adaptation. The story of Johnny Smith (Christopher Walken), a teacher who emerges from a coma with second sight, it's both moving and quietly unsettling as it builds towards a forceful climax.

DVD Extras:

Commentary with film critic Kim Newman and author Stephen Jones, trailer.Yes, it would be lovely to have input from cast or crew, but Newman and Jones do a sterling job. Their generous commentary is perceptive and jaw-plungeingly knowledgable. Just listen to Newman's thoughts on the staging of any sequence involving crying...
