Something of a departure for Disney, The Emperor's New Groove mixed their traditional feelgood humour with zanier, darker comedy. So it's a shame that the film bombed, because it means they'll be unlikely to repeat the experiment. Still, DVD's the best way to experience the gags in crystal clarity.
DVD Extras:
Commentary with the director, producer, writer and animators, trailers, music videos, game, choice of a guided video tour through the making of the film (from concept to completion) or standard menu format. As polished and professional as you would expect, this is another winner from Disney. While you're not likely to watch the video tour version more than once (thanks to the excruciatingly "hey kids!" presenting style), it's a leap forward in technology and an exhaustive documentary of how the film was created. The commentary's a little flat but often good for a chuckle, though it oddly announces that the views expressed are not those of Disney employees. So whose are those voices on the track, then?
