Nominated for 12 Oscars in 1996 on the night Anthony Minghella's love story took home nine of the gold blighters. Patient is beautiful, poetic and meandering, but slightly prolonged. The SE bonus material includes numerous dry interviews with novelist Michael Ondaatje and Minghella, plus two ever-so-serious commentaries: the director goes solo for one and pilots the way in the second with the film's producer and Ondaatje. Essential for die-hard fans.
