The Ex

1

Clichéd, tacky, predictable… this awful black comedy’s in the sin bin before the opening titles have even ended. Chef Zach Braff is fired just as wife Amanda Peet delivers their first sprog. Seems the right time to take that job with father-in-law Charles Grodin. Once ensconced in his New Age-y ad agency, though, Braff finds himself at the mercy of a Machiavellian paraplegic (Jason Bateman) who’s still got a crush on his old girlfriend (guess who). Bateman’s crass performance sucks all the air out of the office satire, while the tone’s too sour for a rom-com.

DVD Extras: Making Of Featurette, Gag-Reel, Trailers.
