The Experiment

A clumsy remake of the German psychological thriller

The Experiment review

Adrien Brody’s ethnically tattooed guilty liberal and Forest Whitaker’s stuttering maniac face off across the bars as inmate and guard in this pointless knock-off of the 2001 German film of the same name, inspired by the 1971 Stanford Prison experiment.

Fertile ground for insight into mass hysteria and the corrupting nature of power, you’d think.

But with its clumsy, hysterical tone, lumbering references to contemporary issues and a lazy shrug of an ending, it ends up having as much to say on the subject as a particularly grim episode of Celebrity Big Brother.
