Gary Oldman is in typically simmering form as `80s family man Bex Bissek: suit-wearing estate agent by week, Stanley Knife-wielding soccer `casual' by weekend. Bex is `top boy' in a crew consisting of ex-Grange Hillers, Phil Mitchell off EastEnders and people you vaguely recognise from episodes of The Bill. Lots of shouting, surprisingly little fighting and a really, really stupid ending. Still, good for a snigger at the white socks and brick-sized, Trigger Happy TV mobiles.
DVD Extras:
Zilch. The picture is of a decent quality considering the aging, TV origins. But, particularly for such a short film (all of 67 minutes) on a hugely contentious subject, the lack of extras is unforgivable. One of the box quotes screams: "`Fury over soccer film!' - The Guardian". Why? When? We want to know more. Even an old standard documentary on `hooliganism' would have satisfied. Or perhaps a Gary Oldman biopic. Sloppy.
