The Fly/The Fly II

3

Jeff Goldblum's scientist invents a teleport machine and, unbeknown to him, a fly hitches a ride, fusing them at a genetic level. Cue climbing walls, body parts falling off and a gross line in liquidised food. David Cronenberg's original is an intelligent chiller, mixing a love story with an allegory for human decay and, of course, a gutful of gore. Unfortunately, the less said about the sequel the better, as Goldblum's son follows in his father's footsteps (all six of them) and then seeks revenge on the evil corporation that raised him. Nastier than the original and with far less grey matter.

DVD Extras:

Trailers, Making Of featurettes, soundbite interviews with cast and crew.A half-hearted effort. The interviews are short and can also be found on the paltry featurettes, while the trailers are ordinary horror fare. Be afraid - be very afraid - of flyweight discs like this.
