The Frighteners

3

Bad Taste director Peter Jackson gets to unleash his particular, peculiar vision with the backing of Hollywood cash and a full FX crew. Jackson's normal wit and style is diluted by the need for a formula plot and resolution, but the story of Michael J Fox's psychic investigator confronting a spectral murder is still a fun, heady ride.

DVD Extras:

Trailer, cast and crew details, production notes.Jackson's ghost story is by no means his best film, but Columbia was sleeping on the job here. Nine pages of production notes don't make up for the missed opportunity of failing to secure a commentary from the director. Instead, fans have to be content with such producer-spiel as "It stretches the bounds of computer graphics and storytelling." But then, they all say that.
