The course of threequel rarely runs smooth, but this Millennium Trilogy wrap-up is a crisply nuanced, if visually drab, conclusion.
Battered, spiky heroine Lisbeth (Noomi Rapace, leaving sizeable shoes for US remake lead Rooney Mara) just can’t catch a break: she’s recovering from a bullet to the head, awaiting trial for attempted murder and wanted dead by half the supporting cast.
If the courtroom elements drag and returning director (Fire) Daniel Alfredson lacks flair, this is still an admirably character-driven conspiracy thriller, solidifying Rapace as a gutsy talent to watch and watch.
