The Grudge: Director's Cut

3

Another month, another Grudge. J-horror director Takashi Shimizu returns with his Director’s Cut of the US remake of his original Ju-On: The Grudge (confused yet?). Restoring around six minutes, this version of the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring ghost story is barely distinguishable from the theatrical cut. Top marks to the disc, though. While the previous edition gave Shimizu a real bitch-slap – the non-English speaker shunted off the commentary by an American alliance of Buffy and co – this version says a very big sorry. Shimizu gets Japanese-focused production extras, lengthy deleted scenes and a subtitled yak-track.

DVD Extras: Audio Commentaries, Deleted Scenes, Two Short Films, Three Featurettes & Two Video Diaries.
