Things we didn’t learn from this DVD: Nicole Kidman was rushed to hospital after pod people crashed her car; German director Oliver Hirschbiegel was replaced by the Wachowskis and James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) during reshoots. You’d hope the extras would address such goings-on, but this disc is appropriately zombie-like in its avoidance of controversy. Awkwardly retooling the Cold War anxieties of Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers for the Noughties – flu epidemics, bioterrorism, media voyeurism – Hirschbiegel’s film offers icily metallic visuals. “It’s tending towards a kind of allegory,” mumbles Jeremy Northam in meatiest extra We’ve Been Snatched Before. Allegory of what? Nobody knows... Even the film’s point has been body-snatched!
