With that Mark Wahlberg-starring remake grinding into gear, it's fitting that Peter Collinson's 1969 original gets a decent DVD outing. Only decent? Well, yes, because while there's stacks of info here, there's also a crucial missing element: Michael Caine. The commentary - with the enthusiastic Matthew Field, author of the fantastic Making Of The Italian Job book prodding stories out of laconic producer Michael Deeley - is fun and the trio of new documentaries cover all the juiciest stories (and explain why a waltzing mini sequence - presented separately in its entirety - was sliced). But without a single contribution from Mr Micklewhite, the story feels somehow incomplete.
