Even though their cinematic CV boasts the likes of A Matter Of Life And Death and The Red Shoes, this uncategorisable classic still stands out in the canon of producer/director team Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. Stretching 40 years from the Boer War to World War Two, Blimp marries ambition, wit and heart to fine performances from Anton Walbrook, Deborah Kerr and the truly fantastic Roger Livesey. The result is something memorably special.
DVD Extras:
Nothing. Nada. Zilch.Good to see this finally making it on to disc. Bad to see it being done in such a shoddy manner. Not only are there no extras at all, but the print that's been used is irritatingly scratchy. While it's not absolutely dreadful, it is a waste of a wonderful film - a spectacular Technicolor classic like this should glow on DVD.
